David Kealy, PhD
David is an Associate Professor in the Psychotherapy Program within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia. He conducts research on psychotherapy and on personality- and identity-related difficulties, as well as mental health concerns among young adults, men, and individuals with adverse childhood experiences. A major objective of this work is to improve the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions through understanding and responding to individual and contextual differences. A registered social worker, David spent many years working as a therapist and supervisor in one of British Columbia’s largest outpatient mental health programs. In addition to research he teaches and provides consultation and psychotherapy supervision. He also maintains a private practice, with a focus on tailoring therapeutic responsiveness to the unique goals, needs, and concerns of each individual.
